frequently asked questions
When and where are the meetings?
Meetings are generally held every Tuesday evening at 7:00 PM throughout the school year at:
THE FIRESTONE PARK UNITED METHODIST CHURCH250 N. Firestone Blvd. Akron, Ohio For exact meeting times and dates check out our EVENTS page.
Do we still have a meeting if school is closed due to weather?
If school is cancelled due to the weather (i.e. snow) and it is a scheduled meeting night - meetings will also be cancelled. Meetings will still take place when school is closed for scheduled breaks. For example, during spring break. Be sure to check the calendar for scheduled meetings and call your leader if you have any questions.
Do I have to stay at the meeting with my scout?
Although we encourage parents and guardians to stay with a scout during meetings it is not required per BSA policy. As long as your den retains the two-deep leadership requirements you may leave your scout at a meeting or event. The only exception to this is Tiger Cubs. An adult partner must accompany a Tiger Cub to all meetings and events.
What uniform shirt do I wear?
A general rule of thumb is as follows:For regular den meetings and events that involve a physical activity the ‘activity’ shirt can be worn (formerly known as the ‘Class-B’ shirt). Most other meetings and events the ‘Class -A’ uniform should be worn. This includes Pack Night! If in doubt, ask your den leader. For more information on proper uniform guidelines, click here.
Can siblings attend pack functions?
Absolutely! Cub Scouts is about family. We encourage brothers, sisters, parents and even grandparents to attend pack functions, especially the campouts.
Is there anything I can do to help?
Cub Scouting relies on volunteers to be pack leaders. Volunteers come from all backgrounds and experiences. Plumbers, lawyers, homemakers, teachers, doctors, janitors, and scientists—people from just about every occupation imaginable—are involved in leading youth to become responsible, caring, and competent citizens. They also quickly discover that Scout volunteering lets them learn new skills and build lifelong friendships while having fun. Pack 3074 has been fortunate throughout the years to have some of the best leadership in the council and that begins with you. The Pack is always looking for adults to step up and fill the roles of leadership as current leaders move on to the Boy Scouts troops each year. If you are interested in becoming a leader or committee member please talk with our cubmaster or any one of the current den leaders and assistants. More than 1.2 million adult volunteers give their time and skills to the development of youth through the Boy Scouts of America. An overwhelming majority (96 percent) of these volunteers say their experience has been so positive that they would recommend volunteering for the Boy Scouts of America to others. Please help us and volunteer today!
What are the age ranges for Cub Scouts?
Cub Scouts basically follows the school grade system:Tiger Cubs - 1st Grade
Wolf - 2nd Grade
Bear - 3rd Grade
Webelos 1 - 4th Grade
Webelos 2 - 5th Grade
What do I do with all these patches?
Click here for the uniform guidelines. A majority of the patches a scout earns are not meant to be placed on the uniform. They can be affixed to a vest if you wish to display them with the uniform. A scout may display one temporary patch on the uniform at a time.
